再び、大三島を元気にしよう！
大三島は少子高齢化によってかつての元気を失っています。
特に若い人々は自由を求め、独立して都市部へと島から出ていってしまいます。
他方で都市に暮らす人々の中には、豊かな自然の中で土と接した生活を求める人も少なくありません。
大三島をもう一度元気にするため、私達は幾つかの大学研究室のチームと協力して次のような提案をしようと考えました。
①廃校になった中学校の再生
島しょ部に限らず、廃校の利活用・再生は今全国の公立学校が抱える社会的な問題でもあります。私達は島の人々にとって多くの記憶を蓄積している廃校になった中学校を再生するために、校舎や体育館はそのまま残し、校庭に複数の小さな住居と畑をつくりたいと思います。WCやシャワールームは共同棟として、住居棟のを節減したいと思います。
既存の教室棟や体育館はイベント等に活用できればと考えます。
②農業を始める人のための小住宅の提案
移住者やUターンの人々が最初に住むためのローコスト小住宅を複数タイプ提案し、希望者に実現、販売したいと思います。これらの住宅はコストを抑えるため、さまざまな新しいアイデアを提案していきます。畑とともに暮らす大三島ならではの新しいライフスタイルの提案です。
私達の提案をベースにしながら、皆様の御意見を伺い、実現に向けて発展させていきたいと思います。
Reviving Omishima Together Again
Omishima has gradually lost its former vitality as a result of an aging and declining population.
In particular, many young people leave the island in search of freedom, seeking independence and relocating to urban centers.
At the same time, a growing number of urban residents are seeking ways of living that allow closer engagement with nature and the land.
With the aim of revitalizing Omishima, we have developed a series of proposals in collaboration with several university research laboratories.
1.Revitalization of a Former Middle School
The adaptive reuse of former public schools is a pressing social issue across Japan, not just limited to island regions. To revitalize the former middle school that holds many shared memories for the island’s residents, we propose preserving the existing school building and gymnasium while introducing several small residential units and cultivated fields within the former schoolyard. To reduce construction costs, restrooms and shower facilities will be consolidated into a shared service building.
The existing classroom building and gymnasium are envisioned as flexible spaces that can be used for events.
2.Small Housing Proposals for New Farmers
We propose several types of low-cost, small housing designed for newcomers and returning residents, to be sold as their initial dwellings when they relocate to the island. To keep construction costs low, the proposals introduce several new design strategies. It proposes a new lifestyle unique to Omishima, integrating living with cultivated fields.
Building on our proposals, we aim to further develop them toward realization through dialogue with you.
